About Charlie

Charlie Leslie is the founder and Co-Own's Tarpon Caye Lodge with his sons, Charlie Leslie Jr. (Administrative Manager), Marlon Leslie (TCL Head Guide) and best friend Charles Cabral (TCL guide).

Charlie has helped pioneer and popularize sport fishing and fly fishing in Belize. He operated KINGFISHER SPORT FISHING OPERATION, the first professional fly fishing business in Placencia Village during mid 80’s to 90’s. Charlie later created a fishing camp for his repeat fishing clients, as well as new clients who preferred overnight stays.

After the success of the fishing camp, Charlie decided to establish his very own fishing lodge on a private island near to all the best fishing grounds, therefore, by 1997 Tarpon Caye (island) was developed and the lodge was established.

Since the establishment and well doing of the lodge, Charlie has been featured on ESPN and in numerous guide books. Charlie and his guides, “hunt” for fish like few others. It is refreshing to find guides dedicated to fish the tides rather than an 8-4 day.
