TRAVEL TO BELIZE Map Of Belize X

Greetings from Charlie Leslie's Tarpon Caye Lodge,

We are delighted to have you spend your Fly Fishing Vacation on your own private island where paradise, a fly fishing dream and relaxation come together in unity.

You will most likely fly into Belize International Airport on US Airways, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta or TACA. Flights are available from Charlotte (3 hours and 37 minutes), Miami (1 hour and 40 minutes), Houston (1 hour and 55 minutes), Atlanta (3 hours and 10minutes), and Dallas (2 hours and 30 minutes).
Upon your arrival you will clear immigration and claim your luggage. Wheeled carts are provided at no charge. You are permitted to bring one bottle of liquor or one to two bottles of wine into Belize per person.
Next, you clear customs where you will be greeted by a variety of friendly baggage handlers. They will assist you with your luggage once you arrive at customs and beyond. They will do all the lifting onto and off of the customs counters for you if you allow them to. Gratuity for baggage handlers is usually fifty cents - one dollar US per bag. (Let them have it all, you will enjoy the freedom) Margorie Perez (she can help you book your local flights , directly) a personal friend of Charlie Leslie and Charlie's Tarpon Caye Lodge Belize International Airport Representative; she will meet you outside Customs. You will then proceed around the corner to the Maya Island Air or Tropic Air , depend on which airline Margie booked you on for convenience, counter where you will check in for your flight to Placencia Peninsula. These airline uses planes ranging in size from 20 passenger Caravans to Cessna 172's. Round trip travel costs approximately $156 US per person. Your local flight cost is not included in your package, therefore you will need to pay Margie directly for tickets, you can contact her directly and she will help you book your local flight to Placencia and return; you can also book your flight yourself by visiting Maya Island Air or Tropic Air's websites which makes it easy to book directly from their site. Flights are frequent.
The flight time is approximately 45 minutes and includes beautiful views of the Mayan Mountains (it will be on your right).
You will be met at the Placencia airport by one of Charlie Leslie's Son, Charlie Jr., who is also the Office/Administrative Manager, and taken via our van or taxi directly to the boat dock which is only a 5 minute drive away. You will enjoy a 30-minute ride to Charlie Leslie's Tarpon Caye Lodge in our 28' open hull skiff, along with your luggage which will be placed in a dry hole.

Please, if you are bringing luggage with sensitive electronics we advice that you bring them in your carry on and handle them yourselves, to avoid any damage.
