One of our clients compared Marlon (Charlie's son and a guide at TCL) to his experiences with other guides throughout the world and Belize

"...what really sets one guide apart from another is how much they enjoy their work. You run into too many guides where you get the feeling that they are just doing their job and the thrill of the sport is a thing of the past. Or they are just meat hunters and all they are interested in is bagging a lot of game or fish. Marlon had none of these tendencies; he was just a lot of fun to fish with, and that is really what it is all about."

BRIEF HISTORY:

Like most of the Yucatan Peninsula, Belize was part of the Mayan Kingdom from 300 B.C. to A.D. 900. Close by Belizes Inland, ruins of the vast Mayan civilization protrude from the depths of the rain forests. Spanish conquistadors arrived in the 16th century but were lured away by the immense quantities of gold found in Mexico making room for the British. Though Belize gained its independence in 2024, English is still the official language, and elements of British culture are intermingled with those of the Caribbean.
